Electronic Devices on Holiday

Electronic Devices on Holiday

It is impossible in this day and age to spend much time away from one’s laptop or cell phone. With our current habits of continually tweeting, posting and blogging about our experiences, it can be very frustrating to be abroad and to be stuck without the electronic capability to do these things. That’s why it’s important to keep the following things in mind while travelling with electronics.
First up, depending on what your mode of travel is research where you’re going to connect and recharge your devices. On planes it is impossible to do so even if your plane has electrical outlets, but if you’re traveling by bus, some services do offer you the ability to charge stuff. Alternatively, you can charge your device at the airport you’ll be traveling to or from – airports, however, usually has a range of charging options. For instance you might have to charge your device at a paid outlet if the free ones are not available. Sometimes there are specific charging outlets but in some smaller airports there might only be wall outlets that are already full. Finally, make sure that you have the required adapters for charging in foreign wall outlets. A basic convertible travel charger should be enough but remember to get one for each device.
Another concern is about internet. Research in advance what your options will be for internet connectivity at your destination. If you’re looking to use an open Wi – Fi connection, make sure you have the required security and try not to input your bank account, credit card or password details on these open connections. Try to keep to secure connections as much as possible, even if it means paying more. After all, it’s your holiday and better safe than sorry!
